Phoenix Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor Project
Why Volunteer?
The Phoenix Project is a study group of the Twin Cities IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) to develop an ambulatory blood pressure monitor for the Halberg Chronobiology Center at the University of Minnesota. Our goal is to make a monitor that is inexpensive, unobtrusive, easy to use and collects a week of blood pressure measurements.
Phoenix is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the medical technology industry. You will work with a worldwide group of professionals from a broad range of disciplines making a significant impact on global health. We are already listed with leading search engines. For example, just enter the name of one of the Phoenix contributors and either "Blood Pressure" or "Phoenix" into a Google search window.
Our website is at www.phoenix.tc-ieee.org. We are looking for volunteers. Look at the "About Phoenix" page and its subpages, and the "Projects" page. Then browse through the other pages. The product is being developed as an open source project.
Participating in Phoenix is a great opportunity if any of the following describe you:
- Medical technology engineer
- Engineer in another industry and would like to transition into the medical technology industry
- Want to gain medical technology experience
- Want others to see your capability to make significant contributions
- Would like to help your community in a worthwhile project to improve peoples' health
As a Phoenix engineer, your contributions will be very visible to companies within the medical technology industry. Every technology company needs talent and this is an opportunity to display your talent in a worthwhile, worldwide project. You need not make a full time investment. Whatever contribution you can make will be greatly appreciated.
